The Norfolk Grade 5/6 U1 soccer team capped off their undefeated season with a thrilling victory against defending champions from Barkhamsted.  The game was played at the Botelle soccer field on a brisk wintery morning on November 11.  The teams played hard and were well-matched.  The score remained tied 2-2 after regulation and 2 periods of overtime.  The championship was finally secured for Norfolk in a sudden death penalty kick shoot-out. Remarkably, the winning goal was scored by David DeCerbo, who also scored the winning goal in same situation in last year’s Grade 3/4 championship.

Coach Ben Nadeau says, “I am really proud of this team. We won games because we play as a team, and don’t bank on one player to carry the load. Everyone on the team always comes with a great attitude, and they all encourage each other. This really is a great group of kids.”
