Car Crashes into George’s Garage

An out-of-control vehicle left Route 44 and slammed backwards into the first bay at George’s Norfolk Garage. The morning accident occurred on January 29, leaving employees of the garage rattled. Owner George Auclair, Sr. managed to escape the car’s path just before the late model blue Suzuki hit the building, breaking one brick support column and dislodging the large overhead door. Repairs were well underway by midday, allowing the garage on Greenwoods Road East to remain open for business. Norfolk Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and transported the driver to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Speed and poor road conditions are believed to have both contributed to the accident.
