Norfolk Official Receives New England Honor

Richard Byrne, Norfolk’s emergency management director, was nominated by the Northeast States Emergency Consortium for Emergency Manager of the Year for Connecticut. In presenting him with a certificate, First Selectman Sue Dyer recalled the many storms they had worked through together in Town Hall’s situation room and praised his competence and even temper. A volunteer, Byrne has held the directorship since 2008. He is also chairman of Botelle School’s safety committee.
