Norfolk Land Trust Plans Trail Work Day

Please join us at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, April 21 in the center of town near the fountain (Station Place) for our Spring Trail Work Day to get our trails in shape for good weather. Wear waterproof shoes and bring work gloves.  Work sessions will end around 3 p.m. If you plan to attend, please help us get a head count by contacting Bill Couch by email at billcouch1@mac.com or by calling 860-480-4981.

 

Earth Day Campfire Poetry Reading

Join us at Great Mountain Forest, 200 Canaan Mountain Road in Falls Village, on Saturday, April 21 for a sunset camp fire and poetry reading celebrating the earth and its gifts. Relax as you listen to some specially chosen poems as the sun goes down and the stars come out. Refreshments will be served. Bring your own camp chair. If it rains, the event is cancelled. 100 Years of Connecticut Fashion

The Colebrook Historical Society kicks off their 2018 Season on Sunday, April 29th, from 3 to 5 p.m..  There will be a brief annual meeting, followed by a presentation from the Connecticut Historical Society – 100 Years of Connecticut Fashion, 1860-1960.  After the presentation there will be a social hour, with plenty of refreshments on hand. Norfolk Spring Clean-up

In honor of Earth Day, please join Norfolk Community Association on Saturday, April 21. The town will enjoy the benefits of a clean-up as volunteers are assigned various roads and common areas to rid them of small debris and litter. Trash bags and refreshments will be provided  –  bring your own gloves. Meet at 9 a.m. in front of The Hub downtown. Contact Sally with any questions: at 860-542-1715. Community Potluck Luncheon

“The Church of Christ cordially invites the community to a potluck luncheon in Battell Chapel on Friday, April 13, at noon. Please come, bring a favorite dish to share, as well as a friend.”

 

Norfolk Lion’s Club Scholarships

The Norfolk Lion’s Club is offering scholarships to graduating seniors who are continuing their education. Applications for the scholarships will be available at Northwest Regional School, the National Iron Bank, and Berkshire Country Store. The application deadline is April 25, 2018.”

 

Film About Rachel Carson at the Library

In honor of Earth Day, join us for a screening of “The Power of One Voice” about the life and work of Rachel Carson. Sponsored by the Conservation Commission, the screening is on Saturday, April 21, at 4 p.m. in the Norfolk Library. Call 860-542-5075 for reservations.

 

Making Mother’s Day Cards
Join artist Leslie Watkins in an introduction to watercolor and elegant notecard making workshop on May 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Church of Christ, Norfolk. You will learn super-easy techniques to create a simple watercolor even if you have never painted before, which is then enhanced by stamping beautiful graphics and sentiments. $15 fee for three cards. Bring any paper crafting tools you have. Beginners to advanced. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration required.
