Great Mountain Forest Hires New Executive Director


The Board of Trustees of Great Mountain Forest has announced that the trustees have selected Tamara Muruetagoiena as the a new executive director of GMF.

Muruetagoiena first became acquainted with GMF as a student in the Yale School of Forestry, where she got a master’s degree in forest science. She also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley. Before coming back to GMF, Muruetagoiena was a policy adviser to the European Union, an environmental program manager at Columbia University, and most recently a global manager for sustainability and R&D at Driscoll’s, a California-based international food grower.

Muruetagoiena, who is fluent in English, Spanish and French and has command of four other languages, will assume her new duties on Oct. 7.
