Music Among Neighbors

Art Exhibit: Adam Paul Heller

The exhibit HERE! Paintings by Adam Paul Heller will be on display at the library during April. Heller received a BA in studio art from the University of Vermont and is known for his work in hand-carved stone. There is a reception for the artist on Sunday, April 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates.

Two Beekeeping Events

On Monday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m., the Norfolk Library will show a documentary about migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees. Wildflower seed packets will be distributed after the documentary, one per family. On Thursday, April 6, at 6 p.m., local beekeeper Dan Carr of Beavertides Farm will give an introduction to beekeeping. How to Hire Great People

On Tuesday, April 4, 5:30-8 p.m., experienced business adviser Missy Lafferty will teach participants how to tell their company’s story to attract job candidates, build a hiring process and set new hires up for success. Chess at the Library

Learn to play chess at the Norfolk Library with instructor Gary Scheft, on Thursdays in April, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., beginning April 6. These sessions are geared toward adults, and all levels are welcome. Visit the library website or call 860-542-5075 ext. 2 to register.

Family Easter Scavenger Hunt 

The Norfolk Library and the Church of Christ are sponsoring a family Easter scavenger hunt on Saturday, April 8. Meet on the village green at 10 a.m. (or in Battell Chapel in the event of rain).

Birthday Party for Isabella Eldridge

The library will celebrate the birthday of its founder, Isabella Purple Eldridge, on April 10 at 6 p.m. with a book exchange, mocktails and cake. Wear purple if you feel so inclined. Film: “Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down” 

The Missions and Social Justice Team at the Church of Christ and the Norfolk Library will host a screening of “Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down” on Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. This documentary tells the extraordinary story of former Arizona congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her fight to recover following an assassination attempt in 2011. Dance Performance in Battell Chapel

Garet & Co, an award-winning dance company founded by NYU Tisch graduate, dancer, choreographer and New Hartford native Garet Wierdsma, will be performing at Battell Chapel at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. Beyond Organic: Soil Health and Nutrition

Sustainable farming practices begin with soil health. Join Husky Meadows’s Brett Ellis on Sunday, April 16, at 4 p.m. at the Norfolk Library for a discussion of the importance of soil health and sustainable farming. Light refreshments will be available. Homegrown National Park

On Friday, April 21, at 6 p.m., Homegrown National Park cofounder Michelle Alfandari will host a screening at the Hub of the short film “What’s the Rush,” featuring park cofounder Doug Tallamy, professor in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware. The Monday Poets on a Sunday

On Sunday, April 23, at 4 p.m., the Monday Poets will present a poetry reading at the Norfolk Library. The Monday Poets have been meeting for many years to share new work and provide feedback. Financing Your Healthcare

On Tuesday, April 25, at 4 p.m., a guest panel at the Hub will discuss the potential impact of rising health care costs on retirement savings. Sweet Valley High Reunion at the Library 

One of the most popular Young Adult book series of the 1980s was Sweet Valley High. At 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, meet at the library for refreshments, discussion and nostalgia. All registered participants can pickup a free copy of a Sweet Valley High book at Front Desk Circulation. 

Spring Cleaning Hacks: Getting Started 

At the library on Sunday, April 30, at 4 p.m., Kelly Kandra Hughes will both share insights from neuroscience research that explain how our brains are the biggest obstacle to decluttering success and offer practical advice on tackling our spring cleaning to-do list.
