Rain Falling On Rain

Starting on Monday when it rained an inch, Norfolk has received four full inches of rain this week. Buttermilk Falls is churning, and the dry dam north of town holds back a large empondment. Water gushes from the dam’s outlet pipe toward the Blackberry River.

Native Orchid Blooms Abundantly This Year

Pink ladyslipper, with its single, fuzzy stem and pouched petals, is an unmistakable presence in Norfolk’s woods in June. This specimen, part of a large colony, was photographed in Great Mountain Forest recently.
