Digging Deep

Beth Roemaker and a crew from Meadowscapes planted dozens upon dozens of plants on the steep bank at Norfolk’s City Meadow at the end of June, part of the ongoing planting and maintenance of the town-owned property. The plants were well watered ahead of the July heat wave, and many can now be seen sprouting up. “It’s a very slow process,” noted Libby Borden, who cochairs the City Meadow Committee. Customarily an optimist, Borden says there is “a long way to go before it looks like a wild meadow.” Stay tuned as the team tames unwanted natives such as horsetails even as many invasive plants have been successfully removed.
