Arlene Swift Jones, a poet, memoirist and educator, died at home in Bloomfield, Conn. on December 31, surrounded by her three daughters and granddaughter. The cause was sepsis, following complications from peripheral vascular disease. African Dance at the Norfolk Library

The day after Christmas, Diata Diata International Folkloric Theater of Hudson, New York performed at the Norfolk Library. Founded in 1985 by Pamela and Andre Badilia to preserve ancestral heritage through performance, Diata has had a tremendous influence on the cultural life of Columbia County and beyond.
