Weekend in Norfolk, held July 31, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 has free garden walks, a gravel
bike ride, tag sales, live music on Robertson Plaza, tours, art shows and Sidewalk

Aija pops up for WIN
Bella Erder’s shop, Aija, is back as a pop-up in the lobby of 10 Station Place from
Friday, July 31 to Sunday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a stylish and
affordable collection of jewelry, gifts and tabletop accessories.

Special Town Meeting
The Board of Selectmen has called a special town meeting for Monday, Aug. 3, at 6
p.m., at Town Hall, to consider an appropriation for construction of the Northbrook Trail
being developed by the Rails to Trails Committee.

JanaLee Cherneski Exhibit at the Library
“Between Breaths,” an exhibition of underwater plant portraits taken at Doolittle Lake by
JanaLee Cherneski over a period of 15 years, will be on display at the Norfolk Library
from Aug. 1 to Sept. 3. Says Cherneski, “Beneath the surface I find an entirely new
realm of color, movement, relation and resonance.” A reception for the artist will be held
on Sunday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m., hosted by the Library Associates. Cherneski will
also give an artist talk on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 2:30 p.m.

Sound Bath With Lisa Pepino

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 5 p.m., at Battell Chapel, Lisa Pepino leads an immersive
sound bath using the sounds of drums, gong and chimes for guided healing. Email

Kids Garden Club
Fridays Aug. 7 and Aug. 21 are kids garden club days. Gather from 5 to 6 p.m. at the

Haystack Woods Open House
The Foundation for Norfolk Living will host an open house on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10
a.m. to noon, to showcase the remaining unsold houses at the Haystack Woods
affordable housing community. The three-bedroom homes, priced at $261,000, are
available to first-time homebuyers who earn up to 80 percent of Litchfield County’s area
median income, which is $98,240 for a four-person household. The available homes

Morris Dancers Stop in Norfolk
The American Travelling Morrice troupe brings their English country dance tradition (the
dancers, with small bells strapped to their legs, leap through complex figures to the
music of accordion, fiddle and pipes) to the Northeast, stopping at the Norfolk library
parking area on Monday, Aug. 10, at 2:30 p.m. Don’t miss this artful spectacle!

Friday Nights on the Green

The Norfolk Hub invites all to the final Friday Nights on the Green: Aug. 7, sponsored by
UCC/Norfolk NET, features the Ken Moor Band and Icebox Pizza; Aug. 14 has a
community BBQ and musician Katherine Winston and is hosted by the NVFD and the
Norfolk Curling Club; and Aug. 21 has a community BBQ and the music of the
Mudgetones, compliments of National Iron Bank, the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance and
the Norfolk Lions Club. Bring a chair and a friend to the Village Green at 6 p.m.

Annual Ted Byers Lecture
On Friday, Aug. 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., at Battell Chapel, the Annual Ted Byers
Lecture speaker will be Ethan Tapper, sharing thoughts from his book “How to Love a
Forest.”  Tapper explores what it means to truly care for a forest and the natural world
around us. The talk is a collaboration between The Doolittle Lake Co., Great Mountain
Forest and the UCC. 

Community Drawing at the Art Barn 
Free community drawing classes continue on Saturday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at
the Art Barn, through Aug. 15. Drawing materials and paper are provided. All levels are
welcome.

Tai Chi at UCC
Tai Chi group practice is offered at the UCC on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Fridays at
9:30 a.m. Fee: $10

Yoga for Seniors
Wendy Larsen leads a free yoga class for seniors at Battell Chapel on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.

Norfolk Food Pantry & Clothes Closet
The Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet at UCC Norfolk are open Tuesday-Thursday
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., serving residents of Norfolk, Canaan, Falls Village, Colebrook,
Winsted and Winchester. Donations of food items and gently used clothing are very
welcome.

Eve’s Porch Writers & Readers
Writers and readers gather the first Monday of the month at 10 a.m. at Geer Lodge in
Canaan and the third Monday of the month in Norfolk’s UCC church at 9:30 a.m. Call

1776 Exhibit at Historical Society
The Norfolk Historical Society exhibit, “Norfolk 1776,” presents life in Norfolk in the
years surrounding the Revolutionary War. The museum is located on Village Green and
is open summer weekends from 1 to 4 p.m.

Annual Norfolk Library Book Sale
The annual Norfolk Library book sale runs Aug. 29-30. Proceeds benefit the Norfolk
Library Associates and the library’s free cultural programs they fund. On Friday, Aug.
28, from 5 to 7 p.m., join a festive summer cocktail party under the tent. The theme is “A
Midsummer Night’s Dream” (whimsical or enchanted woodland attire welcome!) and
hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and wine will be served. Tickets are $50 in advance
or at the door.

Volunteers Needed—Free Concert Tickets! 
The Norfolk Chamber Music Festival needs community ushers for Friday and Saturday
evenings through Aug. 22 at the Music Shed. Ushers will take tickets, hand out
programs and guide people to seats—the enjoy free admission to the concerts. Contact

Hiking the Continental Divide Trail
The Colebrook Historical Society hosts speaker Ed Kostak on Friday, Aug. 21, at 7
p.m., at Colebrook Town Hall, for a talk on “Backpacking 8,000 miles on the Triple
